Check out my post from earlier in the week www.autoviva.com/news.php The system is a flywheel energy recovery system that that scavenges power under braking. Audi claims that it gives longer front brake life. The power can only be used above 120km/h though. Audi Motorsports PR did not get back to me when I asked if the system is driver controlled as far as when the power is used. It is very different from the Toyota system that uses capacitors to store power and can be used whenever the driver wants. Toyota even claims the car can run fully electric for short periods if the driver chooses. In my uneducated opinion, it seems like Toyota might have the edge at slow speed circuits or if there are long periods behind the safety car.
