BMW Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupe introduces new paint options to the BMW lineup
Meet the BMW Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupe; a limited edition version of the M3, bound for the U.S. only, that celebrates the addition of the unique Frozen paint colors to the BMW Individual program. The Frozen Black paint job consists of a metallic base coat covered by a silk matte clear coat that gives the M3 a unique shine and highlights its muscular lines.
The Frozen Black Coupe is powered by the same 414-hp V8 that powers the standard M3, though it is fitted to BMW’s M DCT transmission, lowering 0-60 mph times from 4.7 to 4.5 seconds. The car is also outfitted with the M3’s Competition Package, which lowers the ride height of the vehicle while adding a sport-mapped Electronic Damping Control system.
Exterior highlights include edition-specific red brake calipers that lurk behind the wide-offset 19” M3 GTS wheels (painted black in this case) wrapped in summer performance tires. Gloss black trim elements accent the otherwise matte finish in the form of the kidney and side gills as well as the exhaust tips. The interior of the vehicle is swathed in black Extended Novillo leather with red contrast stitching and includes all of the high-tech entertainment and convenience options available on other M3’s.
Production of the Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupe will be limited to just 20 units, 19 of which will be sold on a first come, first serve basis starting on June 16, 2011. BMW of North America will retain the final vehicle, though it may be sold at a later date. Base price for the Coupe is $79,650 including delivery and gas-guzzler fees.
