Record lap of Manhattan
Last year members of an anonymous and questionable group, called CBC (corporate broadcasting company) set a new and illegal lap record driving around Manhattan Island in New York City. The daring driver must have achieved spectacular speeds by completing the 24.48 mile distance in a time of 26:03 minutes with a Saturn Sky convertible. Bearing in mind that there are numerous time sapping traffic lights to deal with, the average speed of 56 miles per hour is mighty impressive. The previous lap record of 27 minutes set by Alex Roy in 2001 required speeds of up to 144 miles per hour. That was video taped, but was never released due to obvious reasons. Being an unknown driver this time round, the CBC happily broadcast this video. Do not try this one at home!
